About Anne Kiske – Family Law

I am passionate about helping you through all of your life transitions – from cradle to grave. I’ve been an attorney since 1994, when I was graduated from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri. I first began the practice of law in Scott County, Missouri as the only public defender assigned to the entire county. After two years in the rural area, my family and I moved to the Kansas City metro area where I joined the Department of Social Services representing the Children’s Division in child abuse and neglect cases. After 8 years with the Department of Social Services, I joined the Earnshaw Hobbs Law Firm PC to continuing and broaden my advocacy skills on behalf of families and children. After almost 6 years with Earnshaw Hobbs, I opened my own firm, Kiske Law Office, LLC, in Zona Rosa. I am licensed in both Missouri and Kansas (and hold an inactive license in Illinois). Because I also like to challenge myself, I am usually engaged in one or two large “extra-curricular” activities. Currently, I am privileged to serve on the Board of Directors for MARCH mediation. I am also a member of the Association of Family and Conciliatory Courts, and I have received the AVVO client’s choice award for Family Law in 2014, 2015 and 2016. In my “free time” I volunteer for a hospice organization where I play flute duets for patients in hospice.

I am also grateful for my personal life experiences that have enabled me to be empathetic with my clients. I have personally been through a divorce with children, experienced the death of a parent, and many of the life transitions that we all experience.

At the Kiske Law Office, LLC, I am responsible for child custody cases, child abuse cases, divorces, paternities, guardianships, and traffic matters, and simple estate planning. I developed the Mobile Lawyer Services to more effectively meet the needs of our aging and disabled clients. I truly enjoy helping clients resolve their parenting and other legal issues. I am grateful for the opportunity to counsel clients on issues related to their family, children and loved ones.

Amanda (“Mandy”) Showalter
I joined the Kiske Law Office, LLC in 2013 as an associated attorney where I also work to help you through your life transitions. I was graduated from UMKC Law School in with honors in 2009. I was awarded the John R. Specca award for excellence in the study of family law. I am honored to have been a member of the Family Law Moot Court Team and a staff member on the Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. I first began my practice by clerking for the Hon. Commissioner Sherrill Rosen in Independence, MO. This gave me a broad and firm foundation in litigation in the area of Family Law. When my clerkship ended I was privileged to practice at a boutique probate firm in the Liberty area where I learned from some of the most experienced and best known probate attorneys in the area. I was saddened when the lawyers there all retired and the firm closed, however I recognize that because of my experience at that firm I have a robust knowledge of the probate laws. Subsequently I opened my own firm, Showalter Law, and joined Kiske Law Office, LLC in the fall of 2013.

As an attorney who has been through the divorce process herself, I fully understand how emotionally challenging family law matters can be. I work hard to empower you in your time of need by fighting for your family with dignity and compassion. I value direct communication and will ensure you are always able to communicate with me. I also always provide you with candid legal advice and innovative advocacy in any type of family law or probate matter.

I am excited to join Anne at the Kiske Law Office, LLC and to offer comprehensive Family and Probate Law services to our clients.

Megan Alfano
I joined Kiske Law Office as an associate attorney in September, 2017. I am excited to be able to help you with your personal legal matters. I was graduated from UMKC law school in May 2017, and worked at Kiske Law Office through the summer while I studied for the bar exam. I was on Law Review and wrote an article on Federal Environmental Regulations which was published. During law school I worked as a law clerk at the Midwest Innocence Project and was part of a successful team on two habeas corpus actions. I also clerked at the prosecutor’s office in Jackson County for a short time. Then, I clerked for an entire year at the public defender’s office. Throughout law school, I worked part time in small law offices providing direct client service. I am from the Kansas City area and have a large extended family that has taught me the importance of personal attention.

I am looking forward to working with you on your legal problems at Kiske Law Office. I value prompt and direct communication and will work to be available when you need me.
