It’s never too early to develop your estate plan. An estate plan is a comprehensive set of directions that are designed to assist others in understanding and implementing your desires in the event of your incapacity or death. A good estate plan will always include a will, durable power of attorney for financial decision, and a durable power of attorney for health care including a health care directive. An estate plan may need to include a trust, and will often include the use of “transfer on death” or “payable on death” designations on assets.
We can assist you in developing your estate plan no matter how big or small your estate is. We do not “push” trusts – in our opinion not everyone needs a trust. Trusts are useful in certain circumstances, such as when you have a disabled child, or if you own real estate in multiple states, or if you have a significant net worth. However, trusts are not the only tool available to us in crafting your individual estate plan, and are many times not necessary to accomplish your wishes and goals.
Because each person has very different needs in this area, there are a variety of tools in the estate planning area designed to accommodate the varied family structures and each person’s individual asset mix. At Kiske Law Office we focus on your individual circumstances and offer you individual guidance and recommendations designed to implement your individual wishes. We listen carefully to what you want and we conduct a thorough review of your asset structure. We have a strong network of other professionals in the financial world that we work closely with to develop a comprehensive plan for your individual situation. Our attention to detail and our network of affiliated professionals allows us to develop a unique estate plan for each of our clients.
